The project
We created this 3-part series of scientific animations in partnership with Fabian de Kok-Mercado at HHMI BioInteractive to explain SARS-CoV-2 biology infection, evolution and testing to a lay audience. While the SARS-CoV-2 virus models and animation are 3D, they appears as if painted in watercolour thanks to Artineering’s amazing MNPRX non-photorealistic renderer (NPR). This rendering technique, along with the stylistic treatment of the human characters softens the high-science content, making it more approachable for our general audience.
