The project
We designed this scientific illustration to explain the importance of chloride ion transport in mucous viscosity and the role played by CFTR. A dynamic layout contrasts normal with abnormal CFTR function and explains the role of the first ever CF drug, VX-770. We based the protein models and their conformations on published molecular structure data to ensure accuracy, a key ingredient in any authentic scientific illustration.
