The project

AXS Studio collaborated with Jen Christiansen of Scientific American on this multipage illustration of the human virome for a feature written by David Pride for the December 2020 issue. AXS created the 2D and 3D illustration elements, which were composed in this layout by the Scientific American art team. The 3D models are based on peer-reviewed literature, including structural data. Viruses are organized by body region and colour-coded as pathogenic or non-pathogenic.
